Lake Bolsena
Lake Bolsena is the biggest volcanic lake in Europe with particularly limpid and clean waters due to a grandiose purification project managed by an association of Communes and also to the fact that there is no industrial pollution in the area.Two beautiful islands, Bisentina and Martana, emerge from its crystal-clear waters. Bisentina, with its luxuriant gardens, the suggestive convent and its seven Oratories, has been the summer residence of some Popes and it’s now the major tourist attraction of the lake. Also Martana is a splendid and unique place hosting the remains of an ancient fortress.The mild climate and the possibility to practise a big variety of water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, water skiing and motor boating make this place an ideal destination for holidays.
